Right-bank team wins 17th "Banks Match", Valters triumphs in long-range contest
The right-bank team of the Daugava won the 17th edition of the 24-hour basketball tournament "Banks Match", while former Latvian national team player Kristaps Valters won the long-range shooting contest.
Saturday marked the conclusion of the 17th edition of the traditional 24-hour basketball tournament known as "Krastu mačs" ("Banks Match"), in which teams representing the left and right banks of the Daugava river in Riga compete against each other.

This time, the right-bank team of the Daugava proved superior, securing overall victory in the 17th staging of the "Banks Match".
Valters wins long-range contest
As part of the tournament's programme, a separate long-range shooting contest was also held on Saturday. The best performer was former Latvian national basketball team player Kristaps Valters, who claimed victory in the event, demonstrating his shooting accuracy even after the end of his active playing career.
The "Banks Match" has become one of the most recognisable 24-hour basketball events, with teams competing continuously around the clock. This format demands particular endurance and teamwork from participants, since play does not last just a few hours but an entire day and night.
