New Contract After Stellar Season
Buffalo Sabres forward Peyton Krebs has agreed to a four-year, $18 million contract following arbitration, boosting his annual salary from $1.45 million to $4.5 million. The Canadian restricted free agent could not reach a deal with the Sabres and took the matter to arbitration, resulting in the new contract.
Krebs' previous contract was a two-year deal worth $2.9 million total. The new agreement triples his average annual value.
Career-Best Season
The 2023-24 season was Krebs' best in the NHL. In 82 regular-season games, he recorded 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists), 78 penalty minutes, and a plus-13 rating. In the playoffs, he added six points (two goals, four assists) in 13 games, with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.
The Sabres finished first in the Atlantic Division with 109 points. They defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 in the first round before losing 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens in the second round.
