Keeper of Kremlin secrets fired after personal life exposed on social media
Since the war in Ukraine, foreign intelligence interest in Russian secret keepers has grown. FSB documents show recruitment during trips and online. Example: Kremlin records chief Kazakov, fired by Putin before publication.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, foreign intelligence services have increased their focus on keepers of Russian state secrets. This is revealed by secret counterintelligence documents from Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) obtained by The Insider. The documents indicate that recruitment often occurs during foreign business trips, but is increasingly moving to online platforms.
To assess how well Russia protects its secrets, The Insider used the head of the Kremlin's administrative department, Andrei Kazakov, as an example. Notably, Vladimir Putin dismissed him shortly before the article was published. It turns out that Kazakov's and his family's private life, including trips to NATO countries, had been openly visible on social media for a long time.
