Kremlin: U.S.-Russia-Ukraine peace talks to be held in Abu Dhabi after November 4
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said three-way talks on ending the war in Ukraine will take place in Abu Dhabi after November 4. The exact date will depend in part on conditions on the battlefield.
Talks between the United States, Russia and Ukraine aimed at ending the war in Ukraine will be held in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, after November 4, according to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. The announcement matters because it points to the next three-way meeting focused on stopping the fighting.
Ushakov did not name a specific date. He said it would depend "in part on battlefield conditions and the broader situation." He added that Russia has not yet finalized its delegation, though "the core is in place."
Zelensky's suggested date
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with The Sun published on the morning of October 28, said the talks could take place on November 10. He added: "We very much hope that the escalation in the Middle East that everyone is talking so much about right now won't get in the way."
U.S. election backdrop
The United States holds midterm congressional elections on November 3, in which the Republican Party could lose its majority in both houses of Congress. According to media reports, Donald Trump could resume heavy strikes on Iran after the vote.
