Krieva and Zaķīte Secure Spot in U18 World Championship Second Playoff Round
Latvian beach volleyball duo Paula Krieva and Estere Zaķīte won all three group matches, advancing directly to the second playoff round at the U18 World Championships in The Hague.
Paula Krieva and Estere Zaķīte defeated Kazakhstan's Gayan Galaš and Mareya Kožahmetova 2-0 (21:14, 21:15) in their third group match on Friday at the U18 World Championships in The Hague.
Earlier on Thursday, the Latvian pair had already beaten teams from Canada and Venezuela, both with 2-0 scorelines. With three wins in Group G, they finished first and secured an automatic spot in the second round of the playoffs.
Krieva and Zaķīte entered the tournament through qualification, where they were seeded sixth. After a first-round bye, they defeated a Czech duo and then an Austrian pair to reach the main draw.
In the men's tournament, Latvia is represented by Renārs Lasmanis and Ernests Pastars, who have won their first two matches. The U18 World Championship concludes on Sunday.
