Russia strikes Ivano-Frankivsk with drones, mayor warns of possible increase in attacks on western Ukraine
A Russian drone attack on Ivano-Frankivsk on Sunday injured one person and damaged infrastructure, with the city's mayor warning that strikes on western Ukraine could become more frequent.
On Sunday, September 13, Russian forces struck the western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk with Shahed-type drones, according to city mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv.
The mayor said the attack targeted civilian infrastructure. One person was injured and hospitalized. In one of the city's residential districts, windows were slightly damaged.
Warning of further strikes
Martsinkiv said there is information suggesting Russian strikes on western Ukraine could become more frequent in the near future. He urged residents to use shelters and reminded them that the city's educational institutions open their shelters at night and on weekends so people can take cover there.
This follows an earlier report of an attack in the Volyn region, where a Russian strike damaged a fuel station near the Yahodyn border crossing point with Poland. Several trucks caught fire as a result.
Both incidents point to continued Russian strikes on targets in western Ukraine, a region located close to the border with European Union countries.
