Russian military forces struck the city of Sumy and its surrounding area with guided aerial bombs on the evening of 18 September, according to local outlet Kordon.Media, citing Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration.

Hryhorov said the strike damaged a multi-storey residential building. Early reports suggest that people may be trapped beneath the rubble.

Details still emerging

Authorities are currently gathering information on the full consequences of the attack. The exact number of casualties or injuries has not yet been confirmed, nor has the status of any rescue operations at the site.
