Ukraine's emergency service reported late Monday that Russia had resumed strikes on Kyiv immediately after a three-day pause in attacks on the Ukrainian capital expired.

The halt had been ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin to coincide with a weekend visit to the region by US President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who traveled between Moscow and Kyiv for meetings with officials on both sides.

Once the three-day window closed, Russian forces resumed their assault on the capital, according to the emergency service's statement. No further details on damage or possible casualties from the renewed strikes were immediately available.

The report was compiled by France 24 with material from AFP, AP and Reuters.
