Russia's largest Ozon logistics hub on fire as Ukraine also strikes military targets
Ukrainian drones attacked a logistics center of Russia's second-largest online retailer Ozon in the Samara region on Saturday, sparking a fire and forcing an evacuation of staff. Ukraine's military also reported strikes on several military targets in Russia and occupied Crimea.
On Saturday, Ukrainian drones struck a logistics center belonging to online retailer Ozon in Chapaevsk, in Russia's Samara region. The company said around 300 employees were evacuated from the site, and no casualties have been reported so far. Videos circulating online show an explosion and a large plume of smoke rising above the facility.
This marks the first time Ukraine has struck an Ozon warehouse directly — until now, Ukrainian strikes had regularly targeted warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retail platform. Ozon is Russia's second-largest e-commerce platform.
Strikes on military facilities
The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces said that on Saturday and overnight into Sunday, several strikes were carried out against military targets in Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory. Targets hit included a base for naval drone boats and a drone control relay station in Chornomorske, in occupied Crimea, as well as a radar station in Yevpatoria. Additional strikes targeted supply depots for materiel in Dzhankoi, Crimea, and in Chaiky, in Russia's Belgorod region. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, the General Staff said.
Russian drone attack on Ukraine
Meanwhile, Russia attacked Ukraine overnight into Sunday with 127 drones, according to Ukraine's Air Force. Air defense forces in the north, south and east of the country shot down 97 of them. Twenty-seven drone strikes were recorded in 22 locations, while debris fell in three additional locations.
