Russia loses 1,560 troops in past 24 hours, Ukraine reports

Ukraine's General Staff says Russian forces lost 1,560 soldiers killed and wounded over the past day, pushing total personnel losses since the invasion began to 1,538,950.

Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces has released its latest daily update on Russian military losses, posted via the institution's Facebook page.

According to the update, Russian forces suffered 1,560 personnel losses — killed and wounded — over the past 24 hours. This brings the cumulative total of Russian military personnel losses since the full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022 to an estimated 1,538,950, as of 3 October 2026.

Equipment losses also rising

The update also detailed losses in military hardware. Over the past day, Russia lost 3 tanks (bringing the total to 12,391), 6 armoured combat vehicles (total 25,477), and 45 artillery systems (total 50,637).

Multiple-launch rocket systems losses rose by 3, reaching a cumulative 2,178. Meanwhile, no new losses were recorded for air defence systems, fixed-wing aircraft, or helicopters, which remain at 1,683, 443, and 356 respectively.

A notable rise was recorded in drone losses: Russia lost 1,645 operational-tactical UAVs over the past day, bringing the total to 544,498. Ground robotic systems losses grew by 14, reaching 2,824.

Losses of vehicles and fuel tankers increased by 422, totalling 156,731, while losses of special vehicles and other equipment rose by 3, reaching 4,783.

No change was reported in cruise missile, ship or submarine losses, which remain at 5,126, 35, and 2 respectively.

Ukraine's General Staff noted that the figures are still being confirmed.
