Russia prepares new wave of reservist conscription, expects 30,000 North Korean troops
Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russia plans a large-scale forced conscription of reservists in autumn and has been setting up bases in Voronezh Oblast since June to receive another 30,000 North Korean soldiers. Kyiv estimates Russian losses from January to July at about 222,500, while recruitment of about 221,000 no longer covers the losses.
According to Ukrainian intelligence data, the Kremlin is preparing a 'significant' wave of forced reservist conscription in the autumn. Since June, Russia has been equipping bases in Voronezh Oblast to accommodate an additional 30,000 North Korean troops.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy estimated that from January to July, Russian losses amounted to approximately 222,500 personnel, while the number of recruits over the same period was about 221,000. This means recruitment no longer compensates for the losses.
Additionally, Moscow has extended its ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2026. The move is attributed to strikes on Russia's oil refining infrastructure.
On the night of July 26, Russian forces launched a combined strike on Ukraine using ballistic missiles, resulting in casualties.
