Yabloko's candidate list struck from ballot in another Russian region, leaving party in just one regional race
A Tomsk region court has cancelled Yabloko's candidate list registration for the regional legislature election following an LDPR lawsuit. The party's regional list now survives only in Novgorod region.
A court in Russia's Tomsk region has cancelled the registration of an opposition party Yabloko's candidate list for the region's legislative assembly election, ruling on a lawsuit brought by the LDPR party.
According to Yabloko's press service, the lawsuit repeated much of the same reasoning used earlier against the party's federal list: claims about distributing campaign materials through restricted-access resources, alleged intellectual property violations, and questions over campaign financing.
The ruling follows a similar decision at the national level. On August 10, Russia's Supreme Court removed Yabloko's federal candidate list from the ballot entirely, acting on a lawsuit filed by the Rodina party, which accused Yabloko of copyright infringement and improper payments for campaign advertising.
Despite the Tomsk regional list being struck down, seven Yabloko candidates remain in the race there, running individually in single-mandate districts rather than as part of the party list.
The Tomsk decision is the latest in a series of removals affecting Yabloko across Russia. The party had originally registered candidate lists in eight regions, but successive rulings have eliminated all but one — leaving Novgorod region as the sole place where Yabloko's regional list remains on the ballot.
