Russia to Unveil New “Anti-Drone Dome” System at Russia-Africa Summit
Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport will present a planned air defense system called the “Anti-Drone Dome” at next week's Russia-Africa summit in Moscow. The showcase comes as Russia itself continues to struggle with Ukrainian drone attacks.

Rosoboronexport, Russia's state arms exporter, will unveil a planned air defense system called the “Anti-Drone Dome” at the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow next week, the Interfax news agency reported on Friday, October 23. The summit is set for next Wednesday and Thursday, and the system will be shown to Russia's partners in Africa.
According to Rosoboronexport, the multilayered system combines radar detection, electronic jamming, weapons and physical barriers. It is intended to protect civilians and military personnel, as well as bridges, buildings, and energy and industrial facilities. A separate system is designed to protect mobile convoys and cargo.
Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev said that all the tools and solutions used in the system have proven their effectiveness in real conditions. The exporter stressed that the system relies entirely on Russian-made equipment and can be adapted to a specific partner and a specific facility.
Background
The presentation for African partners comes as Russia itself continues to struggle with Ukrainian drone attacks. These have repeatedly overwhelmed air defense systems, with targets including oil refineries, warehouses and data centers.
Earlier this spring, President Vladimir Putin replaced the head of Russia's Aerospace Forces after a series of destructive Ukrainian drone strikes. The new chief, Alexander Chaiko, narrowly survived a suicide bomb attack at an upscale Moscow restaurant in August.
