Russia launches 35 missiles and 185 drones at Ukraine, only two missiles intercepted

Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight with 35 missiles of various types and 185 drones, with Kyiv Oblast as the main target. Ukraine's air defense had shot down or jammed 156 aerial targets, including two missiles and 154 drones, by 09:30.

Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine on the night of July 31 – August 1, firing 35 missiles of various types and 185 drones. The main target was Kyiv Oblast, but Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava oblasts were also hit.

According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia deployed four anti-ship missiles (Zircon and Onyx), 27 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and missiles from S-400 systems, two Kh-31 anti-radiation missiles, and two Kh-59/69 air-launched missiles. In addition, 185 unmanned aerial vehicles were used.

As of 09:30, Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or jammed 156 aerial targets, including two missiles and 154 drones. Four anti-ship missiles, 26 ballistic missiles, and 23 attack drones struck 21 locations. Debris from intercepted aerial assets fell at two more locations. Three missiles failed to reach their targets. At the time of reporting, the attack was still ongoing.

Earlier reports said that nine people were killed and more than 30 injured as a result of ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv on the night of July 31 – August 1.
