Russian forces struck Ukraine overnight into 21 August with 135 attack and decoy drones, with Ukrainian air defences destroying or jamming most of them; strikes were recorded at 16 locations.

Russia carried out a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine overnight from 20 to 21 August, using 135 Shahed-type (some jet-powered) and Gerbera attack drones alongside Parodiya decoy UAVs, Ukraine's Air Force reported.
According to early reports, by 08:00 Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 107 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones across the country's northern, southern and eastern regions.
Multiple locations hit
Hits from 27 drones were recorded at 16 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at three additional sites. Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces took part in repelling the assault.
Ukraine's Air Force noted that the attack was still ongoing, as several Russian drones remained in the country's airspace.
