Russia launches overnight missile and drone strike on Ukraine, 175 targets neutralized

Overnight on September 8, Russian forces carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine using multiple types of missiles and hundreds of attack drones, according to Ukraine's Air Force. The main strikes targeted the Kyiv and Odesa regions.
The attack involved Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 32 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles, and 166 Shahed-type attack drones — more than half of them jet-powered — along with Parodiya decoy drones.
Air defense results
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., Ukraine's air defense shot down or suppressed 175 targets. This included 2 Iskander-M/KN-23/S-400/Oniks ballistic missiles, 31 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 142 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and other types.
Missile and drone strikes were recorded hitting 29 locations, while debris from downed missiles and drones fell in nine locations.
The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, along with mobile fire teams of Ukraine's defense forces.
At the time of reporting, the attack was still ongoing, with about ten enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
