Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine overnight on 30 October, using ballistic missiles, four Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles and 113 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The strike is part of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, in which civilian and energy infrastructure is regularly targeted.

Missiles

The ballistic missiles, identified as Iskander-M, S-400 and KN-23 types, were launched from Russia's Voronezh, Kursk and Bryansk regions. The Air Force did not give their number or say how many were intercepted.

Four Kh-59/69 guided missiles were fired from Russia's Belgorod region. By 07:30, according to preliminary data, Ukrainian air defence had shot down three of them.

Drones

Russia used 113 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera and Parodiya decoy types. They were launched from the directions of Russia's Oryol, Kursk and Shatalovo, from the occupied city of Donetsk, and from Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea. Among them were 83 jet-powered Shaheds.

The Air Force said 99 enemy targets were downed or suppressed in total: three Kh-59/69 missiles and 96 drones, including 71 jet-powered Shaheds. Several strike drones were still airborne and operations against them continued.

Impact

The main directions of the attack were the Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Hits were recorded at 17 locations, and falling debris was recorded at five. The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.

Earlier overnight and in the morning of 30 October, Russia also attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones; one person was killed and another injured in the Dniprovskyi district. Separately, after Russian strikes on trunk power networks in the Dnipropetrovsk region on 29 October, part of the city of Dnipro and surrounding areas lost electricity.
