Russia launches overnight attack on Ukraine with 137 drones, most shot down

Overnight on October 6, Russia carried out a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, with air defense neutralizing the majority of the strike drones. The attack is still ongoing.

On the night of October 6, Russian forces launched a new large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory using strike drones. According to available information, a total of 137 drones were launched.

Ukraine's air defense forces managed to neutralize 114 of the drones used in the attack, meaning that the majority — more than 83 percent — of the strike drones were shot down or otherwise rendered harmless before they could reach their targets.

The source of the report notes that the situation is still developing and the attack remains ongoing, so precise information about the consequences and damage is not yet available. No details have been provided on which territories or facilities were targeted by the drone strikes, nor on any possible casualties or material damage from the drones that air defense failed to intercept.

This type of large-scale drone attack has become a regular occurrence in Russia's military actions against Ukraine, and Ukraine's air defense system continues working to reduce the risks these attacks pose to civilians and infrastructure.
