Russian forces launched a ballistic missile and 88 drones against Ukraine starting the evening of June 21, with air defense neutralizing 79 drones. The missile and five drones hit targets at six locations.

In a major overnight attack on June 21–22, Russia struck Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 88 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 08:30 on June 22, air defense units had destroyed or suppressed 79 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other models.
The assault began around 18:00 on June 21. The missile was launched from occupied Crimea, while drones were deployed from multiple directions in Russia: Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from occupied Donetsk and Crimea (Gvardiyske).
To repel the attack, Ukraine employed aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned system units, and mobile fire groups. However, the ballistic missile and five strike drones hit their targets at six separate locations. Additionally, debris from downed drones fell at nine sites.
The Air Force reported that the attack is still ongoing, with some enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace. Casualties and damage are still being assessed.
