Russia copies Ukraine’s tactic: cheap drone interceptors from old planes
Russia has started using old planes armed with cheap interceptor drones to shoot down attack drones, mimicking a tactic previously employed by Ukraine.
The Russian military has adopted a new approach to countering unmanned aerial vehicles by copying a tactic from Ukraine. Instead of using expensive missiles costing $500,000 to take down a $50,000 attack drone, Russia is now equipping old aircraft with low-cost interceptor drones.
This method is significantly cheaper and more efficient, as interceptor drones are far less expensive than traditional anti-aircraft missiles. The strategy allows Russia to allocate resources more economically in the fight against Ukrainian drones.
Ukraine had previously used a similar strategy, deploying low-cost drones to intercept and destroy Russian drones. Now, Russia has adopted this concept, adapting it to its own needs.
This move highlights the rapid evolution of technology and tactics in warfare, where cost-effectiveness is becoming increasingly important.
