Russian forces launched two attacks on a civilian vessel sailing under the flag of Palau, which was carrying nearly 2,800 tonnes of maize. The attack occurred as the ship was leaving a port in Odesa Oblast. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out on board.

According to Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine's Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport, seven crew members and a Ukrainian pilot were rescued. However, two sailors remain missing. A search and rescue operation is currently underway.

This attack on a grain-laden vessel highlights ongoing risks to civilian shipping in the Black Sea and Ukraine's agricultural exports.
