A court in Moscow has ordered the arrest, in absentia, of Russian journalist and documentary filmmaker Andrei Loshak on a charge of 'justification of terrorism,' according to the Russian Telegram channel Ostorozhno Novosti.

The court hearing took place on September 29, but neither the case nor the arrest order had been made public until now. The specific details and underlying facts of the case remain unknown.

Loshak has now been added to Russia's wanted persons list. He has not, however, been included in the registry of terrorists and extremists maintained by Rosfinmonitoring, the country's Federal Financial Monitoring Service.

Who is Andrei Loshak

Andrei Loshak is a Russian journalist known for his documentary films and reportages. One of his recent works, 'Pentagon,' profiles residents of the Saratov region living below the poverty line. He also produced 'The Age of Dissent,' a project about supporters of Alexei Navalny who took part in his 2018 election campaign.

Loshak left Russia after the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine. In 2023, Russia's Justice Ministry designated him a 'foreign agent.'
