Russian automaker ‘Russo-Balt’, which is reviving a historic brand, has announced the cancellation of the premiere of its first electric crossover, the C55. The originally planned presentation in June 2026 is no longer valid, as the company has acknowledged that the timeline was overly optimistic. The vehicle is still in the design and engineering development phase.

The first model from ‘Russo-Balt’ will be a commercial van, the F20, which is currently being prepared for certification. Meanwhile, the company hopes to begin trials of the C55 crossover prototype this autumn.

The C55 is a fully electric all-wheel-drive crossover with a stainless steel body and sharply angular design reminiscent of the Tesla Cybertruck. It measures 5450 mm in length, 2120 mm in width, 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3035 mm. The base version will feature two electric motors producing a combined 550 hp, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Range is estimated at up to 500 km on a single charge.

The base price is expected to be around 8 million rubles (approximately 90,000 euros). A more powerful version with four electric motors and 1000 hp is also planned. The manufacturer positions this vehicle as a competitor to premium SUVs such as the Lexus LX, BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
