Fire breaks out in Zaporizhzhia apartment building after Russian drone strike

Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia overnight on September 4, causing a fire in a residential apartment building. Information on casualties and the scale of damage is still being confirmed.

Overnight on September 4, Russian forces struck the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, sparking a fire in a multi-story residential building. The head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that the enemy strike caused the apartment block to catch fire.

Photos and video released by Fedorov show flames engulfing apartments in the residential building following the drone strike. Information regarding casualties and the extent of the damage is still being clarified. Before the attack, an air raid alert had been issued in the city and region due to the threat of enemy attack drones.

Previous strikes in the region

The previous morning, on September 3, Russian forces struck a civilian car with a drone in the village of Bilenke in the Zaporizhzhia district, killing a man and injuring a woman. That same night, Russian occupation forces also struck Kropyvnytskyi with drones, damaging the roof of an apartment building and an enterprise, with one person injured.
