Russian drone strike destroys warehouse of Zelensky's former comedy studio in Kyiv
An overnight Russian drone strike destroyed a Kyiv warehouse holding props from Volodymyr Zelensky's former comedy studio Kvartal 95, though the studio says all scheduled concerts will proceed. The same strike destroyed a warehouse belonging to the Olena Zelenska Foundation, which stored humanitarian aid.
A Russian drone struck a warehouse in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district overnight, sparking a fire that injured one person, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported.
The warehouse stored props belonging to Kvartal 95 — sets, costumes, and other items used over more than 20 years in the studio's concerts, television shows, films, and series. The studio said the strike destroyed numerous such items.
"Russian weapons can destroy property. But they cannot stop us. We will keep working, writing new jokes, and helping Ukraine's defenders. All scheduled concerts will go ahead — with or without the props," the studio said.
Charity foundation also hit
The same strike destroyed a separate warehouse belonging to the Olena Zelenska Foundation. The foundation said on social media that the building burned down completely but no one was injured. It had stored humanitarian aid purchased or received from partners, intended for distribution to children, families, and institutions across Ukraine.
Kvartal 95 is a Ukrainian studio co-founded by Volodymyr Zelensky, who was part of it before becoming president. It was established in 2003, growing out of the KVN comedy team known as 95-y Kvartal. Over more than two decades, the studio has produced television shows, films, series, and concert programs.
