Russian forces hit a plant belonging to American food giant Mondelēz International in Trostianets, Sumy Oblast, with two drones, damaging the facility's buildings and injuring five employees, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on social media platform X.

Sybiha said Russia had once again struck a civilian facility belonging to a globally recognized American multinational company, adding that there were fortunately no fatalities. He stressed that Russia's persistent and deliberate strikes on American business interests in Ukraine show that Russian aggression threatens not only Ukraine but also directly harms US economic interests in Europe.

Public broadcaster Suspilne, citing the Sumy Oblast Prosecutor's Office, reported that five people were injured in the attack: two men aged 63 and 50, and three women aged 41, 43 and 53.

This is not the first time the plant has come under Russian fire this year — it was also struck in June and February.

About the company

Mondelēz International produces well-known brands including Oreo, Milka, Toblerone, Barny and Tuc chocolate and biscuits.

According to a 2025 Bloomberg report, the company had initially pledged to reduce its presence in Russia following Moscow's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, but later abandoned that commitment, prompting some shareholders to renew calls for greater transparency.
