Zelenskyy: Russian strikes on Kyiv damage Saudi ambassador's residence
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian attacks on Kyiv damaged a building housing the Saudi Arabian ambassador's residence along with several schools and kindergartens, killing people and injuring dozens.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Russian forces damaged a building used as the residence of Saudi Arabia's ambassador during an overnight attack on Kyiv. The strikes also hit two kindergartens, two schools, an ordinary residential building, a car service station, several warehouses and communications facilities.
Writing on social media platform X, Zelenskyy said such a choice of targets would be labeled terrorism anywhere in the world, arguing Russia has no military justification for the strikes and is instead trying to break the population's morale and cause maximum harm to Ukrainian society.
He confirmed people were killed in the attack and offered condolences to their families, adding that dozens more were injured.
Hundreds of drones overnight
According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched 277 attack drones of various types against Kyiv since the previous day, 155 of which were jet-powered.
Recent context
On the night of 26-27 September, a man was killed in a Russian drone strike in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, sparking fires in two non-residential buildings. Three people, including two 16-year-olds, were injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Zelenskyy also said Russian forces struck a data centre in Kyiv twice on the morning of 27 September. Later that day, a Russian drone hit a four-storey office building in the Holosiivskyi district, and another struck a multi-storey residential building in the Darnytskyi district, injuring a woman. Other districts of the capital were also affected.
