Russian drone strike in Kyiv damages apartment block, school and medical facility

A Russian drone attack on Kyiv on 2 September partially destroyed a six-storey residential building and damaged a medical facility and an educational institution, city mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

A Russian drone strike hit a six-storey apartment building in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district on 2 September, causing partial destruction, city mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

According to Klitschko, a fire broke out in an open area of the Holosiivskyi district around 8:00 a.m. after drone debris fell there. Later, around 10:54 a.m., the mayor reported that a drone had struck the six-storey residential building in Shevchenkivskyi district.

Damage across several sites

Klitschko said a fire had also broken out nearby in a three-storey building, and that firefighting and rescue services were working at the scene.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that in Holosiivskyi district the fire occurred on the grounds of an educational institution, while in Shevchenkivskyi district a medical facility was damaged.
