Russian drones hit near Moldova border crossing in Odesa Oblast, torch food cargo

In a combined attack on Ukraine, Russian Shahed-type drones struck an area near the Moldova border crossing in Odesa Oblast, setting fire to food cargo and cutting power to roughly 13,000 residents. A suspected Shahed also entered Moldovan airspace, while another drone crashed in Romania.

Russia launched a combined strike across several regions of Ukraine, including Odesa Oblast, where Shahed-type drones hit an area near a border crossing with Moldova.

The attack set fire to a cargo of food products awaiting transport. Power supply was also cut to around 13,000 residents in Odesa Oblast, leaving households without electricity.

Drones crossed borders

The strike on Odesa Oblast was part of a wider Russian assault carried out simultaneously across multiple Ukrainian regions. A suspected Shahed-type drone reportedly entered Moldovan territory during the attack, while a separate drone crashed in Romania.

The incidents underline how Russian drones continue to stray into the airspace of neighboring countries — Moldova and Romania, both linked to the European Union and NATO framework — raising concerns about the war's effects spreading beyond Ukraine's borders.
