Russian drone strike on Kryvyi Rih mall kills 15, second strike hits rescuers
A Russian daytime drone strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih killed 15 people and wounded 130, with a follow-up drone strike later targeting the emergency responders who arrived at the scene.
Russian forces carried out a daytime drone strike on a shopping center in the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, setting the building ablaze. The attack killed 15 people and left 130 wounded.
After the initial strike, emergency crews arrived to fight the fire and assist the injured. A second drone then struck the same location, this time targeting the rescuers who had responded to the scene.
The attack comes as Kyiv has warned of possible sabotage activity ahead of Ukraine's Independence Day, marked on 24 August. Ukrainian authorities have raised alertness over security threats during this period.
The incident is part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian war, now in its 1640th day. Strikes on civilian infrastructure, including shopping and public spaces, have continued regularly throughout the conflict.
