A Russian drone attacked a passenger train running from Sumy to Kyiv in the Sumy district on the morning of August 8, according to local outlet Kordon.Media and Suspilne Sumy, the regional branch of Ukraine's public broadcaster, both citing police sources.

Law enforcement officials said the strike took place at around 08:00. The attack damaged the train's locomotive and caused a fire to break out inside it.

Early reports indicate that no one was injured in the incident.

Recent attacks on the region

The strike follows a series of Russian attacks on Sumy Oblast the previous day. On August 7, twenty-one people, including an eight-year-old boy, were injured in the region.
