On Friday afternoon, a Russian occupying forces' drone struck an ambulance in the settlement of Yasnohirka in Ukraine's Donetsk region. The attack killed one medical worker and left two other people injured.

The head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported the strike, noting it was carried out by what was reportedly a "Lancet"-type drone while the ambulance was driving through the town on an emergency call.

Filashkin said it is hard to describe such an attack on an ambulance as anything other than a deliberate hunt for people whose job is to save lives.

Not an isolated case

The official recalled that a similar attack recently took place in Kherson, where a Russian drone struck an ambulance, injuring three members of an emergency medical crew.

Attacks on medical vehicles and personnel near the front line in Ukraine have been reported repeatedly since the start of the war.
