Russian drone strikes bus in Zaporizhzhia, casualties reported
A Russian drone has struck a passenger bus in Zaporizhzhia, with early reports pointing to casualties. The attack follows a double-tap drone strike on a Kryvyi Rih shopping centre a day earlier that killed 14 people.

A Russian drone struck a bus in the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to early reports from local authorities. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration, said an enemy drone had attacked a bus and that initial information pointed to casualties, though further details were not immediately available.
The exact number of dead or injured has not yet been confirmed, as the situation is still being clarified by officials on the ground.
Context
The strike comes a day after a more severe attack in Kryvyi Rih, where on 21 August Russian forces carried out a so-called double-tap drone strike on a shopping centre. In such attacks, a second strike hits the same location shortly after the first, often targeting rescuers and others who have gathered at the scene. The Kryvyi Rih attack killed 14 people and injured 121 others, including 22 children.
Together, the two incidents underline the continued use of drone strikes by Russian forces against populated areas and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, including in regions removed from the immediate front line.
