Two killed, including teenage girl, in Russian strike on Sumy
A Russian guided aerial bomb attack on Sumy on Sunday killed two people, including a 16-year-old girl, and injured five others.
Russian forces struck the Ukrainian city of Sumy with three guided aerial bombs on Sunday, 27 September, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, citing information from local outlet Kordon.Media.
The attack killed two people — an elderly woman and a 16-year-old girl. Hryhorov expressed sorrow over the deaths in his statement.
Five more people were injured in the strike, including one child.
Strike near family support centre
One of the bombs landed near a building housing a family and child support centre, causing damage to the structure. There were no visitors inside the centre at the time of the impact.
Girl's death detailed
According to Kordon.Media, one of the victims was a 16-year-old girl named Kateryna. She had gone out to a shop when she heard warnings about incoming guided aerial bombs approaching the city. She ran toward the nearest shelter but did not reach it in time — a falling tree struck and killed her.
Sumy, located near the Russian border, has repeatedly come under Russian aerial attack in the ongoing war.
