At least three killed as Russia unleashes fresh wave of air strikes on Ukraine
At least three people were killed and more than ten injured in Ukraine's latest wave of Russian missile and drone strikes, while a warehouse near Moscow was hit in a Ukrainian drone attack.
Russia carried out a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine overnight, killing at least three people and injuring more than ten, officials said. A fire broke out at a market in Kyiv after it was struck by missiles and drones, with firefighters still working to contain the blaze. Ukrainian officials said air defences shot down three Russian missiles and nearly 100 drones.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air-raid sirens had sounded four times in the capital since Saturday night, with at least six people, including a child, reported injured.
In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, regional head Ivan Fedorov said two people were killed after a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a house. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, officials reported one person killed and 14 injured.
Moscow also targeted
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said around 600 Ukrainian drones were launched towards the Russian capital overnight, roughly a third of which were destroyed. Three people were injured in Russia as a result of the Ukrainian strikes, he said. A warehouse belonging to online retailer Wildberries in Koledino, about 25km from central Moscow, was hit, with videos showing fire and heavy smoke rising from the site.
Russia has stepped up aerial attacks across Ukraine in recent weeks, while Ukraine has intensified strikes on Russian logistics hubs in an effort to disrupt military supply lines.
