The disclosure highlights the ongoing challenge of enforcing sanctions against Russia, as Western-made parts continue to appear in Russian weaponry. Ukrainian authorities stress the need to close this gap to limit Russia's ability to produce advanced missiles.
Experts note that the presence of foreign components in Russian missiles is not new, but the large share of American parts in this particular case raises questions about export control effectiveness. The Iskander is a Russian short-range ballistic missile system widely used by Russia in its war against Ukraine.
