Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, promises payments to sellers after Ukrainian drone strikes on its warehouses
Wildberries has announced a support package for sellers whose goods were destroyed in Ukrainian drone attacks on its warehouses. The company pledged to compensate for lost items but did not specify the calculation method or payment timeline.
Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, has developed a support package for sellers whose merchandise was destroyed in Ukrainian drone strikes on the company’s warehouses, according to the Russian Telegram channel Ostorozhno, Novosti.
The retailer’s press service “promised to pay for goods lost in the damaged warehouses.” However, the company did not specify how it would calculate the payments or when the money would be transferred, stating only that it would happen “as soon as possible.”
The package includes discounted storage, deferred loan payments, and reduced logistics costs for sellers.
After the first Ukrainian strike on Wildberries warehouses in the Moscow and Tambov regions, experts estimated the value of sellers’ inventory stored there at 150 billion to 235 billion rubles — comparable to Wildberries’ annual net profit.
Wildberries was not formally obligated to compensate sellers for the damage. In early July, the company changed the terms of its seller agreement, classifying drone attacks as “force majeure.”
