Lithuania's embassy damaged in Russian mass strike on Kyiv
On 1 August, Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on Kyiv, killing nine and wounding 28. Two rockets landed near the Lithuanian embassy, blowing out windows and damaging the roof. Lithuania said it will summon Russia's ambassador.
Russian armed forces launched a large-scale missile attack on Kyiv on Thursday, 1 August. According to Estonian public broadcasting's "Aktuaalne Kaamera", it was the second such strike in three days. The attack killed nine people and wounded 28 others.
Two rockets landed just a few metres from the building of Lithuania's embassy in Kyiv. The blasts blew out the embassy's windows and damaged its roof. No members of the diplomatic mission were injured.
Lithuania has announced it will summon Russia's ambassador to lodge a protest. President Gitanas Nausėda called the incident further proof that Russian terror knows no bounds. Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said he had already briefed allies, adding that a protest alone would not stop the aggression. To end the war, he argued, Ukraine's supporters must maintain their aid, strengthen Ukraine's resilience and increase sanctions pressure on Russia, ultimately forcing Moscow to the negotiating table.
