Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that Russian strikes overnight killed 12 people across Ukraine. Among the victims was a citizen of India, while dozens of others were injured in the attack.

Writing on Telegram, Zelensky expressed condolences to everyone who lost loved ones in the strikes. He said Russia used a large number of attack drones and ballistic weapons in the assault, causing damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Most casualties in Kyiv

Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office reported that the massive strike killed eight people in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, with a further seven injured there. This means the majority of overnight casualties were concentrated in the capital and its surrounding area.

Officials described the assault as one of the largest in recent times, pointing to the significant scale of weapons deployed.
