Russian postal workers may now be issued anti-drone equipment
Russia's government has expanded the list of gear issued to postal employees to include anti-drone equipment, under a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Russia's government has signed off on a decree allowing anti-drone equipment to be issued to postal workers. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The updated equipment list includes gear for countering unmanned aerial, underwater and surface vessels, unmanned vehicles, and other automated unmanned systems. The decree does not specify which categories of employees will actually receive the equipment.
Rising demand
Demand for anti-drone technology in Russia has grown sharply in recent months. The business daily Vedomosti reported in August that purchases of drone-defense equipment by commercial companies in the first half of 2026 were 6.6 times higher than in the same period the previous year.
The independent outlet Mediazona noted that postal employees already receive certain weapons and specialized gear — for instance, 9-millimeter pistols are issued to postal vehicle supervisors and staff responsible for transit cash offices.
