Russian pizza chain Dodo Pizza reports hack, possible customer data theft
Russian pizza chain Dodo Pizza says hackers breached its IT systems and may have accessed customer personal data. A Telegram channel claims data on 68 million customers was stolen.
Russian pizza chain Dodo Pizza has disclosed that hackers breached its IT systems on September 27–28, potentially gaining access to some customers' personal information.
The company said the attackers may have obtained customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and order details. Dodo Pizza stressed that it does not store payment data, meaning that information was not at risk.
The company said it has already notified Roskomnadzor, Russia's communications regulator, about the incident. According to Dodo Pizza, the hackers have since been blocked from accessing its systems, and an internal review is now underway.
Tens of millions of customers potentially affected
Baza, a Telegram channel known to have ties to Russia's security services, claims the hackers obtained data on 68 million Dodo Pizza customers across multiple countries, including 15 years of order history. Dodo Pizza has not confirmed this figure.
Dodo Pizza is a Russian-founded pizza chain. As of this autumn, it operated more than 1,527 pizzerias in Russia along with locations in 27 other countries.
