Russian missile attack damages Lithuanian embassy in Kyiv

The Lithuanian embassy in Kyiv sustained damage during Russia's overnight missile attack on the Ukrainian capital. No embassy staff members were injured, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys confirmed on Saturday. In a post on X, Budrys wrote that missiles landed just meters from the embassy building, adding that employees were unharmed.

"The Russian attacks on Kyiv last night also damaged Lithuania's Embassy. Missiles struck only a few meters from the embassy. Fortunately, our staff did not suffer," he said. The minister also announced that Lithuania's Foreign Ministry would summon Russia's diplomatic representative in Vilnius later on Saturday in response to the incident.

Budrys commented that Russia's campaign of terror against Ukraine continues without boundaries. "There is no sign of any genuine willingness to stop it, to seek peace or engage in negotiations," he stated. Photographs released by the ministry show a missile crater immediately outside the embassy compound.

Ukrainian officials reported that at least nine people were killed and more than 20 injured in the strikes on Kyiv. Mayor Vitalii Klychko said the city had been targeted with ballistic missiles. Falling debris triggered multiple fires, trapping residents in an apartment block and igniting a warehouse, a high-rise building, and several vehicles. The attack marked the second large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine within two days.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed solidarity with Lithuania in an X post. He noted that the Lithuanian embassy suffered limited damage as a result of Russia's massive attack on Kyiv and that no personnel were harmed. Sybiha stressed that Russian terror does not spare anyone and violates international norms, including the Vienna Convention.
