Russian strike hits civilian infrastructure in Sumy
Russian forces struck civilian infrastructure in Sumy's Velyka Chernechchyna district with four guided aerial bombs, sparking a fire. No injuries have been reported so far.
Russian forces carried out a strike on civilian infrastructure in the Velyka Chernechchyna district of Sumy overnight into 16 August, according to Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.
Four guided aerial bombs hit non-residential buildings in the district. The attack triggered a fire that damaged the affected structures and also ignited a nearby dry grass fire.
According to initial reports, no one was injured in the strike, and no damage to residential areas has been reported at this time.
Wider attacks across Ukraine
The same night saw further Russian attacks elsewhere in the country. Ballistic missiles were launched at Kyiv, causing fires to break out in the capital's Obolonskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.
Separately, the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih steel plant reported that it had been hit by a Russian missile strike during the same overnight period.
