Russian strikes cut power supply in four Ukrainian regions
New power outages were reported on the morning of 28 August in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kyiv oblasts after Russia's overnight drone attack. Ukrenergo is carrying out emergency repairs and urging consumers to conserve energy at certain hours.
Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator Ukrenergo reported new power outages on the morning of 28 August in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kyiv oblasts.
The outages followed an overnight Russian attack in which 164 strike drones were launched at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defence shot down 137 of the aerial assets.
Repairs underway, guidance for consumers
Ukrenergo said power engineers are carrying out emergency repairs where safety conditions allow, aiming to restore electricity to affected consumers as quickly as possible.
The company is advising residents to shift energy-intensive household activities to between 11:00 and 15:00, when industrial solar power plants are most efficient. In the evening, between 18:00 and 22:00, consumers are asked to avoid switching on several high-power appliances at once.
Ukrenergo warned that the grid situation may continue to change and recommended that consumers check the websites and official pages of their regional power distribution companies for the latest updates.
