Russian forces struck the city of Sloviansk in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast on the morning of 11 October, hitting two apartment blocks. Four people are known to have been injured, and the country's leadership warns that more may be trapped under the debris, meaning the number of victims could still grow.
According to Sloviansk Mayor Vadym Liakh, the enemy airstrike on the city took place at 09:45. He reported that two multi-storey residential buildings were hit. All four people currently known to be hurt are receiving medical assistance. The mayor also posted photos and videos from the scene on Facebook, showing destroyed and damaged residential buildings.
Zelenskyy's statement
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram that Russian forces hit a five-storey apartment building in Sloviansk that morning. In his words, one section of the building has been completely destroyed, and people may be trapped under the rubble.
