Trains across Ukraine delayed for hours after Russian strikes
Russian attacks have forced Ukrainian Railways to reroute services on several lines, with one international train delayed by more than 10 hours.
Ukrainian Railways has reported that train services on the Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy routes are currently being rerouted via detours following Russian attacks on rail infrastructure.
International route hit hardest
The worst-affected service is the train connecting Chełm in Poland with Kyiv, which is running more than 10 hours behind schedule. This route is one of the key international links used by passengers traveling between Ukraine and the European Union.
Ukrainian Railways has not provided detailed information about the specific damage to infrastructure or how long the disruptions are expected to last. The company noted that traffic on the affected directions is being maintained through alternative routes, though this results in significantly longer travel times for passengers.
Ongoing attacks on infrastructure
The incident fits into a broader pattern of Russian forces regularly striking Ukraine's railway and other transport infrastructure. Such attacks pose serious challenges both to civilians' freedom of movement and to the country's overall logistics system.
