Six sailors killed, four missing in Russian attack on ship off Odesa
Six crew members have died and four are missing after a Russian missile strike on a civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea near Odesa. Eight sailors were rescued, two of them injured.
The death toll from the Russian missile attack on a civilian ship near Odesa has risen to six, with four more crew members still missing, Ukraine's Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk said on Wednesday.
According to the minister, eight crew members have been rescued, two of them wounded. The search and rescue operation is ongoing.
Earlier reports indicated that Russian forces struck a civilian vessel sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, which was carrying a grain cargo. Initially, five deaths were reported, but the number was later updated.
The attacked ship, named "GOLDEN LEO", had 17 Syrian and Indian nationals on board, as well as a Ukrainian pilot who was killed.
