Fire breaks out at Ukraine's Izmail port after Russian strike
Russia struck the area around Ukraine's largest Danube port of Izmail overnight, causing damage and sparking a fire, regional authorities said. Moscow meanwhile reported downing 362 Ukrainian drones, while an attack triggered a blaze at an oil refinery in Russia's Salavat area.
Russian forces carried out a strike near Izmail, Ukraine's largest port on the Danube River, overnight into Thursday, according to regional authorities. The attack damaged port infrastructure and ignited a fire.
No details have yet been released regarding casualties or the full extent of the damage.
Russian side reports drone downings
On the Russian side, officials said air defences shot down 362 Ukrainian drones overnight. Local authorities also reported that a Ukrainian attack caused a fire at an oil refinery in Russia's Salavat area.
In a separate incident, video released by the operations headquarters in Krasnodar showed a house damaged following an overnight drone attack on Novorossiysk.
Izmail has become a key hub for Ukrainian grain exports since Russia restricted access to other Black Sea routes, giving Danube ports increased strategic importance for the country's agricultural trade.
