Russian attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv leave dozens dead and wounded; UNESCO monastery damaged
Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy have killed at least nine people, including five firefighters in Kharkiv, and injured more than 30. In Kyiv, a fire broke out at the Pechersk Lavra monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, while 140,000 consumers lost power.

Russian forces have carried out widespread attacks on several Ukrainian cities, causing casualties and destruction. In Kyiv, missile strikes killed at least four people and wounded 23, including a pregnant woman and a child.
One of the strikes hit the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The roof of the Dormition Cathedral caught fire, damaging the historic structure. Residential buildings in several districts of the city were also hit, as well as civilian infrastructure such as a market and a grocery store.
Power lines in northern Kyiv were damaged, leaving approximately 140,000 consumers without electricity.
In Kharkiv, a repeated Russian shelling attack killed five firefighters who had arrived to extinguish a fire from a previous strike. At least five more people were wounded.
In Sumy, a drone attack injured three people, including a child.
