Russia launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Ukraine on Saturday, killing eight people and wounding dozens more, according to officials.

In the northern city of Sumy, two glide bombs hit a crowded area, killing five and injuring 30. One bomb struck a bus stop, while photos showed damage to apartment building facades. In a border district of Sumy region, a man was killed after stepping on an explosive device.

Glide bombs also injured 10 in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia. In the southern port city of Odesa, a missile strike killed two and wounded one earlier in the day. In Kharkiv, a drone hit a civilian enterprise, wounding seven. In Russian-controlled parts of Donetsk region, a drone killed one person in a car and nine were injured when a drone attacked a bus near the Sea of Azov.

Overnight, Kyiv was hit by ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones, wounding 12 people. "Civilian infrastructure was hit even before the air raid alert was issued," President Zelensky said. Ukraine's air force reported downing at least two cruise missiles and 111 drones out of a total of six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 121 drones launched.

Zelensky called for faster weapons deliveries from allies, emphasizing the need for air defense munitions. He highlighted an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump to grant Ukraine a license to produce its own Patriot interceptor missiles, but insisted it must be implemented more quickly. Ukraine is critically short of Patriot munitions and has been unable to shoot down ballistic missiles.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone forces struck 21 fuel tanker vessels and seven other cargo and support ships in the Sea of Azov, bringing the week's total to 76. Russian authorities reported one person killed in a drone attack on four vessels in Taganrog Bay. Zelensky said the goal of the drone campaign is to bring Russia to the negotiating table, though Putin has shown no willingness to soften his stance.
